The week keeps on whipping around before I've had a chance to think about posting a little #followfriday blog love on twitter, so I thought I'd share a few blogs from some of the gorgeous girlies that grace my blog bookmarks bar! A good testament to an amazing blog is always the amount of times I check it, eagerly awaiting a new post to pop up & these blogs have more than monopolised by blog browse time. Go check them out 'cause they're blooming marvellous...

This exceptionally pretty lady needs no introductions, you've probably already got her saved on your bookmarks bar already. If you haven't, you've most certainly been living under a blogging rock. The fabulous  Liv, from What Olivia Did, posts perfectly photographed fun glimpses of life in the big smoke; her daily adventures with comrades whilst wearing pieces from her enviable sixties/seventies inspired wardrobe, and a good dose of shortbread baking thrown in for good measure. Parfait.

Cup of Tea Necklace - c/o Millie 'n' Mae

I'm going to go ahead and make one terribly bold claim here: we, here in England, like nothing better than a rare bask in the sun (after these past few dreary weeks, I started to believe that we actually had more of chance of meeting a unicorn)... and a ruddy, good cup of tea! Together; they're a pretty, peachy combination. If you don't like sunshine and/or tea, I'm not sure we can be friends. There's the essential early morning cuppa; the various get-me-through-the-day cuppas; the mid-afternoon caffeine boost, the gossip-with-your-friends-in-the-evening cuppa, and finally, the bedtime wind-down cuppa. I highly recommend a lavender earl grey for that last one.

Anyway, as you can imagine, I was in my element when I awoke on Sunday, to find that not only was there some sunshine, gloriously saturating the sky, but this little gem, from Mille 'n' Mae, had fallen through my letterbox. I quickly threw on some clothes so that my mum & I could turn our mid-morning cuppa into a humble, garden party affair.

I actually haven't taken this sweet little necklace off since the weekend. It's cute, and the charm truly captures the bizarre, but oh so accurate, British fascination with tea. I love wearing jewellery that has a bit of personality. Not anything overly quirky for a daily piece, but just enough to add its own little  story to your outfit.
I've been eyeing up a few other bits on their website too; the chain fringe necklace would look amazing over a tee in the summer, and that vintage camera necklace is pretty darn adorable. I can imagine James is going to be quite fond of their gold prism necklace too. The price is so, so reasonable, I may have to fill up a mini basket of trinkets.

Playsuit - French Connection; Shoes - Topshop

You'll have to excuse the rest of me, it's quite evident how eager I was to catch some sun by the state of my attire! The playsuit is an old French Connection purchase. I adore it. The subtle pattern is lovely and the fabric is such a good quality, which seems highly unusual these days. Is anyone else sick of buying something and realising it has zero lining and leaves nothing to the imagination? Topshop, you're a major culprit at the moment. The boots on the other hand, are a brand-spanking new purchase! I'd been eyeing them up for a while and when my old colleagues rather wonderfully gave me an extremely generous gift card for Topshop as a leaving pressie, I thought these deserved to come home with me.

I have a special treat for you today too, you lovely beings; Millie 'n' Mae have very kindly created a discount code for all you brilliant Novella Afterglow followers!

To receive 20% off your order, visit their website, and enter NOVELLA at the checkout!

Or, as it was National Best Friend Day on Monday (we've all only just found out that existed, right?) why not offer your best bud a belated gesture of your appreciation and share the code with them! Hope you all find something beautiful!

Much love,

Chunky chain, feathers AND glitter? When I first set eyes on this necklace I had to convince my brain that it wasn't just a hypnagogic fantasy. It's from Topshop's range but I picked it up on ebay so I'm not sure if its new or old stock, either way, j'adore. By no means a casual necklace, it's a statement piece for summer nights and festival days.

Which is why I'm half expecting to sneak off somewhere soon... I'm soo glad that it has arrived whilst the boy is on tour, it's given me at least a week to wear it before the inevitable plea of, "Lauren... can I please borrow it for the next gig," finds its way into our conversation. I've lost many an item to the same fate; my fur collar and my stone pendant necklace to name but a few! Annoyingly they always look a trillion times better on James so I can't be too mad for too long.

This jewelled cross pendant was a lovely Christmas gift from parents & can regularly be seen draped around my neck at the moment. They also got me an absolutely stunning burgundy and gold Egyptian/tribal style necklace too. Sadly, that cannot be photographed at the minute as that's one of the ones that's on a wonderful adventure around the British Isles with James! I try to save that one for special occasions as its really delicate and I'm so freaking clumsy I know that I'll only get it caught on something and break it!

I'll let you into a little secret with this one. I found it for £1 (yep, just one singular british pound) in the Primark sale. It was one of those, 'this looks hideous nestled against all this other cheap, ostenatious bling but I have a gut feeling that'll it look really nice on' purchases... and to be fair, it's had so much more wear than I thought it would! It's more a bright peach, than an orange so it looks amazing layered over other pastels (like my mint jumper, featured in this post) or over a basic tee.

Talking of jewellery, does anyone have any good recommendations for storing pieces like these? They're far too chunky for my jewelery box and hangers... I normally chuck everything else into a metal paintpot thing I have but that's overflowing now & I like to be able to see what I have or I forget that I have it! All suggestions welcome!

Much love,
Lauren xo
